Club Events & Trips

CLUB TRIPS:
The club sponsors a number of cycling trips each year.  Trips are open to all members of the club and are restricted to club members only (residents of the immediate household of members are the only exception).  Non-members of the club may participate in club trips by paying an additional $20 fee to join the club for a one year membership.

 2010 Trips:

Lake George Getaway – September 24 – 27, 2010

Sign up by August 15, 2010 to be sure that you will be staying at the Northward Ho Motel. After that date, any remaining rooms will be released. You will not want to miss the eleventh annual Lake George Getaway Weekend (a club favorite!). We will be staying in the lakeside hamlet of Bolton Landing, gateway to the Adirondack Park, located 8 miles north of the Village of Lake George. Enjoy the late September weather with evenings that can be cool, but the days are still warm (sometimes after a chilly morning). While this is a cycling weekend, there are lots of off the bike activities to suit most tastes. Check out the options at: http://www.lakegeorge.com/  This event is for MAFW club members only and advance registration is required. Members may bring non cycling guests who are residents of their immediate household, but any others will be subject to an additional fee of $22 for a one year club membership. This event is for experienced self sufficient cyclists. Cyclists may sign up and form into groups, but there will not be any SAG or support. The timetable for the weekend will be from Friday September 24 thru Monday September 27, 2010. Our home base for the weekend will once again be the Northward Ho Resort Motel in Bolton Landing, NY which offers a choice of rooms, efficiencies, or cottages for your accommodations. Please contact the motel directly to make your reservations and arrange payment. Rooms are being held for our group until August 15, 2010.

 More MAFW Trips:
Would you like to see more MAFW trips and weekends?  Members are encouraged to organize and run club trips and weekends and assistance is offered to make it easier.  The club has a substantial library of past trips that can be used to organize a club event.  The Adirondacks,  Amherst, MA, Cape Cod,  Cape May,  Cooperstown, NY, Lancaster County, PA,  Lewes/Rehoboth Beach,  the coast of Maine, Martha’s Vineyard, and Vermont are just a few of the available destinations

Club trips are for members only and must meet certain guidelines to be promoted as official club trips, but the club does provide publicity, planning assistance, and liability insurance coverage.  These trips are not subsidized but a portion of the registration fees helps defray some of the costs of the trip leaders.

If you have a trip you would like to propose or just want more information, send an e-mail to:
